Least Rasbora

Least Rasbora

The Least Rasbora (Boraras urophthalmoides) is one of the smallest and most charming nano fish in the hobby, a true micro-rasbora prized for its warm coppery-orange body, bold dark lateral stripe, and the small glowing spot near its tail. Perfectly scaled for nano and planted aquascapes, a shoal of these tiny fish brings a soft shimmer of color and gentle movement to the mid and lower water column without overwhelming a small tank.

  • pH: 5.5–7.0
  • Temperature: 73–82°F (23–28°C)
  • Water Type: Freshwater (soft, slightly acidic preferred)
  • Tank Size: 5+ gallons
  • Temperament: Peaceful
  • Tank Mates: Other nano fish, dwarf shrimp, small Corydoras, pygmy rasboras, peaceful micro species
  • Max Size: ~0.75 inch
  • Diet: Micro-omnivore (crushed flakes, micro pellets, baby brine shrimp, frozen cyclops, and small live foods)

Notes: A schooling species best kept in groups of 10 or more, where it feels secure and shows its best color. Its tiny mouth requires appropriately small foods. Ideal for densely planted nano tanks with gentle flow, subdued lighting, and a darker substrate to deepen coloration. Peaceful to the point of being shy, so house only with similarly small, calm tankmates and avoid anything large enough to view it as food.
